Join us in Taranaki, NZ this Spring for a fully immersive weekend of Jiu Jitsu under the commanding presence of Taranaki maunga.
Over the weekend we’ll explore the theme of connection through training, community, and time in nature.

This Free Range BJJ Camp is a fully immersive 3 night, 3 day intensive training experience. With multiple BJJ training sessions, daily movement practices, accommodation and meals provided on site, opportunity to connect with new people from around NZ, & time to connect with the whenua (land) and nearby awa (river).
Drop out of life for a couple of days and drop into a deeper connection with your own personal practice & training.

You don’t have to be an elite athlete to join this weekend.
This Free Range BJJ training camp is for practitioners of ALL LEVELS and ALL AGES, whether a seasoned veteran on the mats, a beginner, a frequent competitor, or a lover of the art. Our coaches will cater to all skill and experience levels.
Everyone welcome regardless of team, affiliation, or experience.
Taranaki is a coastal and mountainous region on the western side of New Zealand's North Island.
Its landscape is dominated by Mount Taranaki, but with world class surf breaks, endless tracks and trails, rich culture and arts, pristine coastline, and fresh local produce, there is something for everybody.
Come for the camp, but stay a few extra days to enjoy this place.
Who is the camp for?
18+ event. Under 18s need a dedicated guardian.
Suitable for any level of experience in BJJ/grappling.
Any level of fitness can attend, but be prepared to work no matter your level.
This camp is not just for active BJJ competitors or elite level athletes. This camp is suitable for anyone wanting to improve their skills, renew their dedication and discipline to training, and curious to expand their knowledge.
Anyone wanting to build community and connect with fellow BJJ practitioners.
Anyone wanting to find some space to get out of the city, spend time in nature, tune in, and chill out.
This is an alcohol and drug free event. Let’s get high on life!

This training camp will run from the afternoon of Friday 23rd October with arrival from 4pm, until 2pm on Monday 26th October, 2026.
It will be held at Vertical Horizons in Inglewood. Vertical Horizon is set on 30 acres of park like surroundings against the natural beauty of the popular Everett Park Scenic Reserve. Take advantage and escape for a few days in this peaceful setting.
New Plymouth Airport is an easy 20 minute drive, and Inglewood the nearest town for supplies is only 5-10 mins away.

For sure, all training and sessions are optional. We are here to test and push our limits, but we also need to honour ourselves, notice where we are at, and when it’s wise to take a break and keep ourselves safe and injury free.

The ticket price is inclusive of all training, accommodation Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, as well as catered main meals including:
Friday night dinner
Saturday & Sunday breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Monday breakfast
Tea and coffee available
Recommended to bring your own drinks and extra snacks.
We will endeavour to cater for your dietary needs, if it is not possible we will let you know in advance and discuss options.You will need to arrange your own transport to and from Vertical Horizons, plus BYO bedding / linen.
Same cost applies if you choose to sleep in your own vehicle.If coming from overseas, we may be able to support you with an airport pick up.

Vertical Horizons has a number of different accommodation options. We are looking to use the smaller shared rooms.
Basic policy is we all clean what we use.There are 5 rooms with 5 beds, and 5 rooms with 3 beds. Every room having it's own bathroom with toilet and shower.
They are single beds, not bunks in the above rooms.
Individuals can sleep in own van / vehicle as well, or camp in a tent, but would be same cost.
With more beds than we’ll need, there will be room to spread out, but you will be sharing a room with 1-3 others. -
A deposit of $150.00 is required to secure your place and is non-refundable.
An invoice with the remaining balance will be sent to your email, payment is due 4 weeks prior to event commencement.

Full cost tickets are $600 for the full 3 days of training, including catering, accommodation, and all sessions.
We endeavour to make our camps an accessible price point. To support this, if coming from Australia or overseas the ticket fee will be in AUD. If you are coming from NZ the ticket fee is in NZD.

Ticket Terms and Conditions:
A minimum deposit of $150 is required to secure your place & is non-refundable at any time.
Full ticket payment is due four weeks prior to the camp starting.
For cancellations within four weeks of camp a 50% refund is available for those who have paid in full.
For cancellations within 2 weeks of camp there is no refund available for either deposits or those who have paid in full.
Ticket transfers are available, but we require written confirmation from both parties via email.
