Under the Mountain

BJJ TRAINING CAMP

21 - 23 November, 2025

Camp Overview

Travel - Train - Connect

Join us in Taranaki, NZ this Spring for a fully immersive weekend of Jiu Jitsu under the commanding presence of Taranaki maunga.

Over the weekend we’ll explore the theme of connection through training, community, and nature.

Join us and find out what the Free Range BJJ lifestyle is all about.

This training weekend includes:

This Free Range BJJ Camp is a 2 night, 3 day intensive training experience.

Focusing on “connection” throughout all our practices, we’ll explore what that means in a Jiu-Jitsu sense while also expanding that idea out further through optional yoga practices, dropping in and connecting with each other, and connection with place.

“I want to come but I don’t feel like I know enough about this stuff to keep up.”

You don’t have to be an elite athlete or a yoga master to join this weekend.

This Free Range BJJ training camp is for practitioners of ALL LEVELS and ALL AGES, whether a seasoned veteran on the mats, a beginner, a frequent competitor, or a lover of the art. Our coaches will cater to all skill and experience levels.

Everyone welcome regardless of team, affiliation, or experience.

Free Range BJJ: Under the Mountain Training Camp will be held in the Taranaki region of Aotearoa. A special place for Alex, his home, and where his Jiu Jitsu journey started.

We are stoked to be able to come full circle and bring our learning and experiences back, connecting our NZ and Australian communities, sharing the mats, sharing the transformative potential of internal practices, and honouring this place which has provided so much.

Taranaki is a coastal and mountainous region on the western side of New Zealand's North Island. Its landscape is dominated by Mount Taranaki, but with world class surf breaks, endless tracks and trails, rich culture and arts, pristine coastline, fresh local produce, there is something for everybody.
